To inspect the ear canal and eardrum, it is necessary to carry out hygienic procedures aimed at freeing the ear from accumulated secretion and purulent discharge. This can be done wet or dry. The first option is to wash the ear canal with an antiseptic solution. The second cleaning option is carried out with a special sterile probe.
To make it tightly, wrap a piece of absorbent cotton on a special stick. To avoid injury to the eardrum, wind the cotton wool so that it completely covers the end of the probe. The finished tool should be used carefully, preferably at the same time using the frontal reflector. The probe is carefully injected to a depth of 2-2.5 cm in the ear canal. Rotate the discharge with rotational movements, then remove the contaminated cotton wool, and then wrap a new sterile piece. The procedure is repeated until the cotton is dry and clean after the manipulation.
The probe allows you to completely get rid of secretions in the ear.
To do this, the procedure must be repeated several times, then be sure to process the passage with boric alcohol.
At first glance, the procedure seems to be simple. But experts warn that self-directed actions can cause injury to the eardrum, and subsequently – impairment of hearing. Therefore, do not risk, making attempts to clean the ear yourself, it is better to seek help from a doctor.
Ear hygiene in children
Before you begin to wash the ear of a child, you need to know that children can not clean the ear canal with cotton buds. They are permissible to use only for the hygiene of the outer part of the body. “Then how to clean the ears?” – you ask. A cotton flagellum soaked in hydrogen peroxide can safely remove the secret from the ear canal. If there is no antiseptic in the house, then it can easily be replaced with boiled water.
To get rid of the accumulation of sulfur, adults and children can drip into the ears special medications. They will soften the formed plug, after which it can be easily removed. Just remember: any medicine for the ears, before applying, it is necessary to warm to body temperature.
To soften the sulfur plug, a couple drops of the drug will be small. Adults may need about a dozen drops, children need to enter a few less. Bury the ears alternately. First, you should introduce the medicine in one ear, lie down for a quarter of an hour, then do the same manipulation with another organ of hearing. If the toilet needs to be carried out to a very small child, then it will be most convenient to do this during the daytime, during sleep. After the procedure, the child may complain of discomfort in the ear or hearing loss, but this is not a cause for concern. Such a temporary phenomenon is caused by swelling of the secret and will pass after cleaning the passage with a special rope. If the child continues to complain after the removal of sulfur, then it is necessary to seek help from an otolaryngologist. It is important to remember that removing the plug in case of rupture of the eardrum is strictly prohibited.
For preventive purposes, the outer ear is cleaned with a cotton swab at least once a week. The ear canal is cleaned once a fortnight, if necessary, you can do it more often. It is most effective to carry out the manipulation after taking water procedures, using a cotton tow. When instillation of medications to soften sulfur, it is enough to remove the pollution with a napkin and wipe the ear with a sterile wad of cotton wool.
After bathing in the river, lake or any other open reservoir, ear hygiene with wadded sticks cannot be performed. It is necessary to wait until the water dries naturally, and only then can the pollution be removed.
Remember, sulfur protects the ear from bacteria, dirt and dust, so do not try to get rid of it completely. There is no urgent need for this.
